Characteristics
This Stage 3 Afterburner is optimized for 7mm caliber rifles sporting a 1:9.5” twist. It is an amazingly balanced bullet for the 7mm-08, and quite honestly, it would be difficult to find a better pairing for a mild mannered, hard hitting, and flat shooting combo. Conversely, loaded up in the 7mm Rem Mag or the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner, it’s a rocket providing incredible performance considering the ballistic coefficient of this bullet supersedes virtually all 150-class and most 160-class bullets.
Like other Stage 3 releases, the loading behavior of this bullet is incredibly forgiving, thus reducing variation and inconsistencies around component selection and seating depth adjustments. This allows the ability to find accuracy nodes with ease and with a variety of combinations.
The terminal performance of this bullet results in a substantial trauma path for a relatively light 7mm caliber bullet. It's capable of all non-dangerous big game hunting in North America and Africa, from short to moderately long range, but is truly ideal for sheep, large deer, caribou, and mid-sized African plains game. The shrapnel damage is high for a smaller bullet and the penetration deep for hard angled shots, even on heavy bone, while at the same time capable of full deployment on a broadside hit of a smaller animal at 1650 fps impact velocity.
We are excited to bring a fresh face and elevated performance with the 134gr to some of the nostalgic chamberings in rifles with slower twists. We look forward to hearing about many success stories with this one!
