After an extensive development process, we proudly introduce the first bullet of our Stage 3 Afterburner series, the 201gr .308" caliber.  It's designed around the 300 PRC but excels in any 30 cal rifle with a twist rate of 1:9” or faster. In the PRC, the length of this bullet’s nose allows full functionality in CIP length magazines (3.74" internal length), a big request from our customer base along with the ability to shoot confidently with a 1:9” twist rate.

The loading behavior of this bullet is incredibly forgiving, thus reducing variation and inconsistencies around component selection and seating depth adjustments.  This allows the ability to find accuracy nodes with ease and with a variety of combinations and was our number one goal with the Stage 3 release.  We understand that confidence at the range during load development trumps all else, and this bullet delivers.  Of course, that dependable accuracy transfers to the field during the moment of truth.  At the end of the day, we want our customers to feel as confident as possible with hair in the sights.

Speaking of confidence, the terminal performance of this new bullet results in the most dramatic trauma path we've witnessed for any .308" caliber bullet. It's ideal for all big game in North America and most of Africa.  Terminally, we've taken the already stellar Afterburner from Stages 1 & 2 substantially higher.  The shrapnel damage is immense and the penetration deep for the likes of the big bears up close, while at the same time capable of full deployment on a broadside pronghorn through the ribs at over 1000 yards.  For anything not requiring dangerous game solids or limited by diameter regulations, this bullet lacks nothing at any range.

With the new 201gr meeting and, in many cases, far exceeding all customer requests and internal goals accumulated over the last few years, we are excited about the “new look” for the flagship line of Apex Outdoors and look forward to hearing customer success stories with it in the field!
