Characteristics
This Stage 3 Afterburner was designed to set up perfectly with the 338 RUM, creating one of the most serious combos for everything up to some of the largest and most dangerous animals. However, it’s still a stellar performer in the 338 Win Mag for those that like to shoot a bit heavier, in general.
Like other Stage 3 releases, the loading behavior of this bullet is incredibly forgiving, thus reducing variation and inconsistencies around component selection and seating depth adjustments. This allows the ability to find accuracy nodes with ease and with a variety of combinations.
The terminal performance of this bullet is massive, making it a confident option for anything not limited by minimum diameter regulations or scenarios requiring dangerous game solids. The shrapnel damage is dramatic and the penetration deep for hard angled shots on big-bodied game, even on heavy bone, while at the same time capable of full deployment on a broadside hit of a smaller animal at 1650 fps impact velocity.
This is a serious bullet for serious situations, yet it has the goods for exemplary long distance performance; our most over-achieving bullet in .338” for the more common chamberings.
